The Team Behind Protector Boats Canada

Protector Boats Canada is the exclusive Canadian dealer for Protector RIBs, built by Rayglass Boats in Auckland, New Zealand. The dealership is based in Vancouver, BC. Our team manages every stage of a Protector order for buyers across Vancouver and the rest of Canada: specification, commissioning, handover and service. Every inquiry made through Protector Boats Canada goes directly to our team; there is no call centre or reseller layer in between. Most buyers spend months researching before a first conversation — we treat that groundwork the same whether it leads to an order this year or next.

Rigid Inflatable Specialists, Not Just a Dealer

Protector Boats Canada has 25 years of rigid inflatable experience. That hull knowledge, systems judgment and eye for build quality carry over to every Protector we sell, applied to a boat built by Rayglass in Auckland. A broker relays a spec sheet. A RIB specialist reads one.

The Exclusive Canadian Dealer for Protector

Rayglass Boats builds every Protector RIB in Auckland, New Zealand, and has done so for decades. Rayglass has been the official supplier of umpire, patrol, photo, and crowd-control vessels to the Louis Vuitton Cup and America's Cup since 2000, and the official chase-boat supplier to SailGP since 2018; its RIBs serve superyacht owners, Coastguard fleets, and commercial and institutional operators in 17 or more countries. It shipped more than 100 Protectors to Valencia for the 2007 America's Cup, then supported the event again in San Francisco in 2013 and Bermuda in 2017 alongside Emirates Team New Zealand. Protector Boats Canada is the only authorized Protector dealer in Canada, working directly with Rayglass on every boat ordered here. For Canadian buyers, that history stands behind every Protector ordered through Protector Boats Canada.

Commissioning, Service and Warranty: Done In-House

Every Protector sold in Canada is commissioned at the Vancouver facility before it reaches its owner: engines rigged and tested, electronics configured, and upholstery and deck hardware fitted to the specification agreed during the build. The same team then carries out warranty work and ongoing service, so the technicians who commissioned your boat are the ones who maintain it.

Owners deal with the same team from commissioning through every service visit, rather than being passed to a generalist marine shop.

Delivery, Commissioning and Service in BC

Every Protector sold in Canada is specified to one buyer, then built to order in Auckland to that buyer's chosen layout, engines, and finish. Our team takes care of everything in between and commissions each boat in British Columbia — rigging, systems checks, and a final handover on the water. After delivery, the same team provides warranty support and ongoing maintenance, whether the boat is a private tender or a working commercial vessel. The same team that commissions each boat also handles its service afterward.

Serving Boat Owners Across British Columbia

Based in Vancouver, Protector Boats Canada supports Protector owners across British Columbia's coastal waters, from the Lower Mainland to Vancouver Island and the wider Gulf Islands. Sea trials, commissioning and service visits are arranged around the owner's home port and cruising grounds, whether that's a marina in Vancouver, a private dock elsewhere in the Lower Mainland, or a mooring further up the coast. The first Protector delivered by Protector Boats Canada, a 310 Targa powered by twin Mercury V8 300hp outboards, landed in Vancouver, with more units scheduled to follow.

Superyacht captains, commercial and institutional operators, and private owners throughout the province deal with the same Vancouver-based team from first inquiry through to years of ownership. Whether a Protector is based at a private slip in Vancouver or cruising further up the coast, service scheduling starts with a call to the Vancouver team.

How Ordering a Protector Works

Here's how ordering a Protector works, from first consultation through delivery in British Columbia.

  1. Consultation: Tell us how you'll use the boat. Every Protector sold in Canada is specified to one customer before it's built.

  2. Design and build: A full 3D design proposal, covering layout, colour, upholstery, engines, electronics and seating, is signed off, then Rayglass builds your Protector to order in Auckland with ongoing consultation through the process.

  3. Delivery and commissioning: Protector Boats Canada takes care of delivery and commissioning, then hands your Protector over on the water in British Columbia.
