The Chase Range

Five open-console RIBs, 7.5 to 12.5 metres, built for utility runs, sport handling, and superyacht tender or support-boat duty. The Protector Chase range is engineered by Rayglass in Auckland and delivered across Canada by Protector Boats Canada.

The Protector Chase is Rayglass's open centre-console range, built by Rayglass Boats in Auckland, New Zealand, a Brunswick Corporation (NYSE: BC) brand. It spans five hull lengths, from the 7.5 metre 250 Chase to the 12.5 metre 410 Chase, and covers a wide range of roles: fast utility tenders, sport-handling day boats, and dedicated support vessels running alongside a superyacht or a patrol fleet.

Every Chase shares the same construction discipline as the rest of the Protector line: a deep-V hull, foam-filled collar, and a layout built around clear deck space rather than fixed seating banks. Power scales with hull size, from 250-400hp on the 250 Chase up to 700-1350hp on the 380 and 410 Chase, matched to fuel capacity built for range rather than day-trip use alone.

In Canada, Protector Boats Canada looks after every Protector Chase sold, through to handover on the water in British Columbia. The hands-on work is done by our own team in Vancouver, which brings 25 years of rigid inflatable experience. Protector Boats Canada handles ordering for the Targa range the same way.

Compare the Chase Range

Five hull lengths span the Chase range, each sized to a different mix of speed, payload, and crew. Fuel capacity and power band scale together, so a 330 Chase carries meaningfully more range and payload than a 250 Chase, not just a longer hull.

Which Chase Is Right for You

Choosing a hull length inside the Chase range comes down to role and crew size more than personal preference: harbour and tender work suits the 250 or 310 Chase, while extended support-boat or patrol duty points toward the 330, 380, or 410.

Chase and Targa are a separate decision. Chase is open-console, built for utility, sport, and support-boat roles where deck space and access matter most. Targa adds a hardtop and enclosed helm for weather protection and longer-range cruising. For a direct comparison of the two families, see our guide to choosing between Chase and Targa. Questions

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the Protector Chase and Targa ranges?

Chase is Rayglass's open centre-console family, built for utility, sport, and support-boat roles where deck space and access matter most. Targa adds a hardtop and enclosed helm for weather protection and cruising range. See the Chase vs Targa guide for a full comparison.

Which Protector Chase model suits tender or support-boat duty?

It depends on range and load: the 250 and 310 Chase suit harbour and short-range tender work, while the 330, 380, and 410 Chase are sized for extended support-boat or patrol duty, with fuel capacity and power scaling accordingly.

How is a Protector Chase ordered in Canada?

Every Protector Chase sold in Canada goes through Protector Boats Canada: a consultation on intended use, a full design and build process in Auckland, then commissioning and handover on the water in British Columbia.
